August 2007 CD Review
Matt Walsh
‘Hard Luck’
Rawtone Records

Wichita's own and soon to be gone to North Carloina has a new CD. This will be the one to set him on the road to success. Matt Walsh is already getting airplay nationwide, As the one of few musicians in Wichita making a living playing the blues, he has scored big with "Hard Luck." Walsh has help from long time sidemen, Jesse Major, Kyle Couch and Rene Aaron providing the back beat for Walsh's vocals and guitar work.

If you have happened to see the Matt Walsh & the Mad Dogs live shows, then you know how well they have worked together. If you haven't, then this is CD for you to catch up. Sure, there is help from Walsh's mentor, Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters band alumni), filling in with some fine guitar. But, this is Matt Walsh's showcase. Walsh's guitar playing is second to none.

His vocals growl out that 1950's Cihicago style of Muddy and Wolf sound with one orignal tune after another. Matter of fact, he wrote them all. Don't ask me to pick out a favorite, I like them all. Catch him before he's gone and buy this CD to keep the memories. I still need to ask him how he gets his hair so tall.
